PSA holds business forum, honors supportive firms
The Philippine Statistics Authority-Aklan recently held a business forum to owner, manager, or staff of establishments selected as respondents for this year’s survey on business and industry.
The forum serves as an avenue in discussing various aspects of the survey, especially the importance of obtaining the data.
It, also, aims to enlighten the respondents on the procedures done in selecting sample establishments, which is the common question among them.
Of the 29, 637 nationwide samples, 139 business firms were taken from Aklan spread in three broad industry groups--- agriculture, industry, and services.
According to Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet B. Catubuan, this annual activity is part of the advocacy of PSA to enhance the awareness of respondents on the importance of the establishment-based survey to assure their support and cooperation.
She said that data derived from business and industry are inevitable in measuring the regional and national economic performance.
During the forum, participants were taught on the proper way of accomplishing questionnaire, giving emphasis on the required data items, and the use of survey form online to hasten the collection of data.
To enhance the appreciation of the respondents about the survey, the results of the 2014 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry and the 2014 Survey of Tourism Establishments in the Philippines were presented to the participants.
Likewise, on the said activity, the office honored 10 sample firms in Aklan for their timely submission of survey questionnaires and for giving accurate information to business and ICT surveys last year.
These establishments are composed of Aklan Cable TV, ALG Jewelry and Pawnshop, Caticlan-Boracay Transport MPC, Clifford Construction Corp, Garcia College of Technology, Boracay Island Hopping Adventure MPC, Metro Kalibo Water District, Malay Water District, Panay Telephone Corp, and Saint Gabriel Medical Center.
Each received a certificate of appreciation given PSO Antonet Catubuan and Rodelyn R. Panadero, Supervising Statistical Specialist.
This recognition intends to inspire and encourage other sample industries to likewise be prompt and accurate in accomplishing survey questionnaire.
