PSA hastens processing of endorsed documents via electronic scheme
Processing of civil registry documents submitted by registrar’s office or Shari’a Courts to Philippine Statistics Authority has become quick and easy following the deployment of electronic endorsement scheme at the agency’s Serbilis Center.
Electronic endorsement is a decentralized and online transmittal to PSA of birth, marriage and death certificates, which are not available in database and archives, and convert them to digital format so that an authentic copy can be issued to clients immediately.
According to Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet B. Catubuan, this scheme aims to expedite the processing of endorsed documents so that clients will be spared of the longer lag time before a PSA copy can be issued.
“In the past, endorsement procedure was quite slow because document was directly submitted to central office through postal mail or courier for conversion into electronic format,” PSO Catubuan said.
But with the implementation of this scheme, Mrs. Catubuan said that the process became efficient since the submission and scanning of endorsed document were already decentralized to PSA provincial office with the Serbilis Center.
Documents covered in this electronic endorsement are those newly-registered at the registrar's office or Shari’a Courts (in case of Muslim), and those which was previously registered but there is no available record at PSA.
Interested person wanted to avail of such service should go to the LCRO or Muslim Court where the document was recorded and request the registrar to endorse in advance the copy of said document to PSA.
In case the document was already submitted to the agency, the provincial office will be responsible to endorse it.
Approval of endorsement takes less than a month and once approved, the authentic copy can be requested at any Serbilis Center nationwide.
