PSA conducts listing of farming households
The Philippine Statistics Authority is currently conducting the 2017 Listing of Farm Households in 33 sample barangays in Aklan.
The LFH is a nationwide activity which aims to collect data to update the sampling frame of agricultural-based surveys of PSA.
Sampling frame is a complete list of households forming a population from which a sample is taken for different survey operations.
According to Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan, among the data that will be collected in this listing include household membership, demographic characteristics, number, location, and physical area of the parcel, tenure status, main use of the parcel, and kinds of crops, livestock and poultry raised.
Sample barangays were identified based on the 2012 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries as either palay-producing or corn-producing.
During the enumeration all households within the area will be listed by hired enumerators to determine the presence of household members who operated a crop, livestock or poultry farms for the period September 2016 to August 2017.
PSO Catubuan, however, clarified that this is not a census-taking where population are counted.
Data gathered from this listing will not be published or released to the public, but for PSA use only.
Catubuan urges respondents to give truthful and correct information to data collectors.
She assured them that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality and cannot be used for taxation, investigation or law enforcement purposes as provided for by law.
