Aklan’s household population up
Aklan’s household population went up by 7.3 percent in a span of five years based on the latest results of the 2015 Census of Population.
With a total household population of 572, 599 persons as of August 2015, Aklan’s household population grew by 39, 026 compared to 533, 573 household population reported in 2010. Over the past 15 years, the household population shot up by 27.14 percent or 122, 246 persons compared to 450, 353 posted in 2000.
The household population comprised 99.6 percent of the total Aklan’s population, while the remaining 0.4 percent includes institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps.
Of the five provinces in Western Visayas, Aklan ranked fourth in terms of household population size contributing 7.77 percent to the 7.4 million household population in the region.
Likewise, the total number of households of the province increased by 17, 556 after posting a 133, 679 households in 2015 compared with 116, 123 recorded in 2010.
Among the 17 municipalities, Kalibo had the most number of households with 17, 930, followed by Malay with 12, 664, Ibajay with 11, 019, and New Washington with 10, 853. On the other hand, Lezo posted the least number of households with 3, 590.
In terms of average household size, Nabas registered the highest with 4.6 persons, followed by Ibajay, Buruanga, and Kalibo with 4.5 persons, respectively, and Tangalan with 4.4. The lowest average household size was recorded in Batan with 4.0 persons.
