312 households sample in demographic, health survey in Aklan
About 312 households were selected as samples for the 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) currently conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority in Aklan.
These households will be interviewed by hired statistical researchers using tablet installed with Computer Aided Personal Interview (CAPI).
The NDHS is a nationwide survey aims to provide information on population, family planning, maternal and child health, child survival, HIV/AIDS, and reproductive health in the Philippines.
According to Mrs. Rodelyn Panadero, Provincial Focal Person, the survey involves interviewing all women in the household who are between 15 and 49 years old.
These women, Mrs. Panadero saide, will be asked about their background, the children they have given birth to, their knowledge and use of family planning methods, the health of their children, their awareness on HIV/AIDS, and other information that will be helpful to policy makers and administrators in health and family planning fields.
“Studying the fertility, health, and family planning behavior and attitudes of these women will provide insights into the behavior and attitudes of persons in the Philippines,” Mrs. Panadero said.
The NDHS is undertaken as part of the worldwide Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) Program designed to assist countries in conducting household sample surveys to periodically monitor changes in population, health and nutrition, and provide database that can be used by researchers investigating topics related to population, health and nutrition.
Mrs. Panadero urges respondents to give truthful and correct data to researchers.
She assured them that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality and cannot be used for taxation, investigation or law enforcement purposes as provided for by law.
